How to Activate Microsoft Office 2024 for Free: Step-by-Step Guide

If you’re trying to use Microsoft Office, like Word or Excel, and it says that you need to activate it or your trial has expired, or maybe you don’t have Microsoft Office on your computer at all, don’t worry! In this guide, I’ll show you how to get the full version of Microsoft Office 2024 for free. Follow these easy steps, and you’ll be up and running in no time. Let’s get started!

Step 1: Create a Folder for MS Office

Start by creating a new folder on your desktop:

  1. Right-click on your desktop and select New Folder.
  2. Name the folder MS Office 2024.

Step 2: Find Your System Architecture

Before we proceed, you’ll need to know whether you’re using a 32-bit or 64-bit operating system.

  1. Go to the search box and type About your PC.
  2. Open it, and it will show you which type of operating system you’re using (32-bit or 64-bit).
    • Alternatively, you can go to This PC, right-click, and select Properties to view your device specifications.

Step 3: Download the Office Customization Tool

  1. Open your browser and search for Office Customization Tool.
  2. Click on the first search result or go directly to the http://config.office.com/deploymentsettings page.
  3. Select the version that matches your operating system (32-bit or 64-bit).
  4. Scroll down to the Office Suites section under Products, and select Office LTSC Professional Plus 2024 (Volume License).
  5. In the Apps section, deselect any apps you don’t need (the fewer apps you select, the faster the download will be).
  6. Scroll down to Language and choose your preferred language.
  7. Click Export, select Office Open XML formats as the default file format, and click OK. Agree to the license terms and leave the file name as is, then click Export.
  8. The file will now begin downloading.

Step 4: Download the Office Deployment Tool

  1. Next, search for Office Deployment Tool in your browser.
  2. Click the first link and then click the Download button.

  3. Once downloaded, open the file by either clicking the folder icon or going to the Downloads folder.
  4. Copy or cut both files you downloaded (the Office Customization Tool and Deployment Tool).
  5. Go back to the MS Office 2024 folder on your desktop and paste the files there.

Step 5: Run the Office Deployment Tool

  1. Open the Office Deployment Tool file.
  2. Accept the license terms and click Continue.
  3. Navigate to the MS Office 2024 folder and select it, then click OK.
  4. This will extract the necessary files into the same folder. You should now see more files inside your MS Office 2024 folder.

Step 6: Install Microsoft Office 2024 via Command Prompt

  1. To install Microsoft Office, we’ll use Command Prompt.
  2. Right-click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator.
  3. Type cd \ and press Enter.
  4. Type cd once more, then go back to your MS Office 2024 folder, and copy the address path.
  5. In Command Prompt, right-click to paste the folder path and press Enter.
  6. Now type: pgsqlCopysetup.exe /configure configuration.xml Press Enter to begin downloading Microsoft Office 2024.

Step 7: Uninstall Existing Office Versions (if needed)

If you receive a message saying that you need to uninstall some programs, go to Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a program, search for Microsoft Office, and uninstall any previous versions.

Once you’ve uninstalled, go back and run the command again to continue the installation.

Note: The download time depends on the number of apps you selected during the customization. This may take a few minutes.

Step 8: Activating Microsoft Office 2024

  1. Open Word or another Office application to check if it’s working.
  2. If a message appears saying “Activation Required,” close Word and open your browser.
  3. Search for Mass GitHub and click on the correct link.
  4. From the drop-down menu, download the Zippy file.
  5. Once the file is downloaded, right-click it and select Extract All.
  6. Browse to your Documents folder, create a new folder named Mass GitHub, and extract the files there.
  7. Open the Mass GitHub folder and then open the All-in-One KMS Activation folder.
  8. Double-click the Mass AIO file to open it.
  9. If a warning pops up, click More Info, then Run Anyway.

Step 9: Activate Microsoft Office

  1. When the Command Prompt window appears, press 2 to select Option 2.
  2. Press 1 to install the Office activation.
  3. Wait for the command to complete. Once done, Office will be permanently activated.
  4. Press 0 to exit, close the window, and open Word again.

Step 10: Verify Activation

  1. If a window pops up asking you to accept the license agreement, click Accept.
  2. Go to File > Account and check if Office is activated.
  3. If it’s not activated, try restarting your computer.
